Joel's Story
Joel Handler has been in education for the past 28 years. He has held positions as a physics/computer science teacher, Systems Network Engineer, K-12 Technology Supervisor and currently has been the Director of Technology for over 20 years at the Hillsborough Board of Education.
Joel holds two masters degrees, one in Computer Science and another in Educational Administration from Rutgers University. He has presented at numerous conferences including TEDx, ISTE, BETT London, UK, NY/NJ Google Apps Summits, TechspoNJ, PETE&C, FETC, NJASA and CoSN. Mr. Handler was nominated as a member of the 2015 CoSN Volunteer Hall of Fame.
Under his leadership, Joel guided the implementation of one of the first K-12 school districts to implement a complete 1:1 program issuing over 7300 Chromebooks to every student in grades K-12 and over 1000 staff devices to district personnel.
